Textile tests
At INFINITIA Industrial Consulting we carry out tests on textiles to ensure the quality and durability of textile products. These tests are key to assessing properties such as chemical resistance, mechanical resistance and antibacterial treatments, as well as to analyse other functional finishes. The objective? That these textiles meet the highest quality standards.
We apply tests to a wide variety of textiles, including those for sectors such as automotive, civil engineering, technical clothing, industrial textiles and the healthcare sector. We are the guarantee of quality and durability for innovative textile products. Find out more about it and if you have any questions, feel free to ask us!
What are textile tests?
The textile tests give name to the set of physical, mechanical, chemical and safety tests which serve to guarantee the proper behavior of materials under different conditions of use.
In our laboratory, we ensure that textile products maintain their integrity under demanding conditions. To do this, we evaluate properties such as tear resistance, tensile strength, and abrasion resistance, as well as their performance against external agents.
These tests also verify the effectiveness of specialized treatments such as those for the characterization of antimicrobial properties, essential in sectors such as healthcare and sports, as well as the absence of harmful compounds, ensuring the safety of the end user.
At INFINITIA we work in all types of sectors, not just in traditional ones. We select and validate textiles together with our clients. The aim is to ensure that they meet the functionality and aesthetic requirements necessary for their applications, from automotive to fashion or retail.
Today, textiles are found in applications as diverse as the sector automotive(upholstery, interior panels and airbags) or the retail(fashion clothing, accessories and household products). Sectors where, in addition to functional properties, textiles must convey quality and brand image. The final product must meet the desired aesthetics, reflecting the brand’s values, to increase levels of satisfaction and, consequently, public loyalty. To achieve this, we carry out a careful and rigorous selection of materials.

Types of textile tests
We determine both the mechanical and chemical properties of textiles through different types of textile tests, which allows us to guarantee their durability and resistance in various applications.
Among the mechanical strength tests the most common are:
Tensile test
Evaluating the ability of textile material to withstand tensile forces without breaking is the purpose of this type of test for textile products. It is essential for technical textiles, such as protective clothing and geotextiles, which must withstand stresses without tearing, and in demanding applications.
Tear resistance test
It helps us measure the ability of the textile to resist the propagation of a cut. This test is essential for work clothes or textiles used outdoors, allowing the material to maintain its structural integrity even under intensive use.
Abrasion test
It consists of evaluating the resistance of the fabric to wear due to friction. This type of test is useful for products such as upholstery, sportswear and industrial textiles, which must maintain their appearance and functionality over the long term.
As for the chemical resistance our textile tests analyse how textiles respond to exposure to aggressive products such as detergents, solvents or industrial substances. This is key for textiles used in the healthcare sector as well as geotextiles, which must withstand substances present in soil or water.
On the other hand, we carry out tests to detect harmful compounds that could be harmful to the end user, complying with the safety standards required for products in direct contact with the skin or textiles that may release potentially toxic substances.

What is innovation in textile materials?
At INFINITIA we bring innovation in materials to all types of sectors. Also the textile sector. This area of work has allowed us to develop advanced textiles with improved properties, such as antibacterial treatments. These are essential in sectors such as healthcare, sports or hotels, where hygiene is a priority.
In our laboratory, we carry out exhaustive tests to verify the durability and effectiveness of these treatments. In this way, we ensure that the textiles maintain their protective properties intact, even after having undergone multiple washing cycles and prolonged use.
In addition to antibacterial treatments, we evaluate other functional finishes such as: water repellents (with hydrophobic substances) and the fire retardant treatments, which improve the safety and performance of textiles in industrial applications. Tests of great value for sectors such as automotive, fashion and home. These functional textiles not only have an aesthetic role, but must also withstand adverse environmental conditions.
The importance of testing textile products in the industrial market
Fashion, sport, healthcare… but also construction and automotive. Textile testing is a guarantee of quality and safety in all types of textile products. Companies therefore rely on these tests to ensure that their materials are resistant and durable under extreme conditions.
Industrial textiles, for example, have to resist harsh chemicals and mechanical wear; while geotextiles must withstand harsh conditions of the environment in which they are used, such as prolonged contact with soil and water.
For their part, the tests also allow for validation innovations in materials This is the case of smart textiles, which offer advanced properties such as thermal self-regulation, flame resistance or antimicrobial capacity.
In addition, at INFINITIA we are responsible for the approval of suppliers so that textiles comply with established quality regulations. This process is in high demand by companies seeking to maintain consistency in the quality of their products and, therefore, guarantee that the materials used are safe and durable. Find out more now!
