What was the challenge or problem to solve?
Our customer, a company in the industrial sector, required the design and manufacture of a customized tooling for holding specimens during a laboratory test. The particularity of this fixture was that it had to hold five specimens at the same time. In addition, the customer required that the new part could be attached to the existing workstation, so that it could be seamlessly integrated into their normal production processes.
INFINITIA’s Product Development team designed, developed and materialized a fixture that met the customer’s requirements.
The first phase of the project was carried out by designing the part using professional CAD software. We then proceeded to validate this design by printing the part on a 3D printer with DLP technology. In this way, we quickly obtained a prototype that allowed us to test the functionality of the design.
After making the necessary adjustments and obtaining the customer’s approval, we moved on to the manufacturing phase. We opted for a machining process, since producing the tooling in metal would result in a more solid part with better mechanical properties.
Once the tooling was materialized, it was delivered to the customer and he was able to check how the part met the needs he had set out.
